King Solomon live at The Lakeside Dec 1
December 1 @ 9:00 pm - 12:00 am
With their unique blend of roots, rock, reggae, dance hall, and funk music, King Solomon has helped introduce many Milwaukeeans to the sounds of the Caribbean. The King Solomon sound is best described as a soulful vibe with a powerhouse punch to the heart. Since it’s conception, the band has developed an incredible following while performing at major festivals locally and regionally. King Solomon also has several CDs recorded.
The band was formed in October 1998 by the late guitarist Terry Tanger and drummer vocalist Keith Green. Both seasoned veterans on the Midwest music scene, Tanger played guitar and was the front man for the 80s band, Those X-Cleavers while Green played for the Caribbean-styled band Kojo. As they began to create King Solomon and their unique King Solomon sound, Tanger and Green hooked up with former Citizen King Bassist Cory Coleman. Coleman’s soulful bass playing wove perfectly with King Solomon’s still developing sound. Add to that the charismatic dancehall style of Ochos Rios, Jamaica native, JD Rankin and there you have it, King Solomon Reggae.
Since the passing of Tanger, the band has gone through some changes but remained true to its aggressive yet soulful sound. It still features Keith Green, Cory Coleman, and JD Rankin, but now veteran guitarist Steward Dove holds down the guitar duties and brings a great vibe to the veteran group.
